I'm home from my live appearances at the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast and at Oran-Mor Arts Centre in Glasgow. While in England last month I managed to get to see my UK publisher and to sign a limited number of copies of "Outtakes On Bob Dylan". I am doing a gig at Au Manot, Sainte-Dode, France at 3pm on November 7, on "Searching For Blind Willie McTell": a talk with audio tracks. I'm very pleased to be making a return visit to the campus at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln NE( 7 years after my first visit there), for two talks on Wednesday April 20.
Two more events have been added to my USA appearances in April 2022.
Two further events have now been confirmed: one at the University of Iowa on the afternoon of April 14, and the other an Iowa City Book Fair event that evening. They include my first visit to Lowell MA, my first trip to the state of Iowa, my first talk at a city's public library for 22 years, and a return visit to Lincoln NE. The schedule for my USA tour dates next month is now settled in detail. I still hope to be in a position to offer a couple of Dylan Discussion Weekends later in the year. I have cancelled my set of talks in the USA this month, for personal health reasons. We can offer, at rather short notice I'm afraid, a new Bob Dylan Discussion Weekend - Friday 29th to Sunday 31st July! Details here! Our Bob Dylan Discussion Weekend at the end of this month is long since sold out. He did not live to see the American folk music revival, in which many other bluesmen were “rediscovered”.I'm happy to announce my first confirmed live event for this year: a return visit under the auspices of Lewes Live Literature (my first there since 2004) to deliver "Bob Dylan's Greatest Rejected Album Tracks" on Friday May 26.
McTell died three years later, having suffered for years from diabetes and alcoholism.ĭespite his lack of commercial success, he was one of the few blues musicians of his generation who continued to actively play and record during the 1940s and 1950s. His last recordings originated during an impromptu session recorded by an Atlanta record store owner in 1956. He never produced a major hit record, but he had a prolific recording career with different labels and under different names in the 1920s and 1930s.
